Motorola needs to take the resources they're utilizing on phone releases and target them on:
    1. unlocking their bootloaders and
    2. better supporting their current lineup
If they could do this, I'd stick with them. My OG has been rock-solid since day 1, and I really appreciate the build quality of Moto's devices. If they don't release a roadmap of when they will unlock their bootloaders soon, however, I'm going with the G-Nex instead of the Droid 4. And I love having a physical keyboard, but not enough to put up with an encrypted bootloader. :disappointed:

I'm going to chime in that the Bionic will be my last Moto phone if the bootloaders don't get unlocked. I never had a Moto phone until the OG Droid and that thing was a BEAST!! The Bionic hardwarewise is awesome, but development has dropped massively :'-( I'm so jealous of the Galaxy Nexus owners and their roms and unlocked bootloaders. I'm not made of money and it's such a hassle reselling the Bionic and then buying a Gnex. At least my extended battery was cheap....

Now what they need to do is work with Verizon about having an easier early upgrade program for Motorolla owners.

    DROID RAZR
    DROID RAZR MAX
    DROID 3
    DROID 4
    BIONIC

Pretty sure they all came out in the last 8 months. Verizon should offer the phones at the upgrade rate for all owners of previous models released within the last year.

As a droid 3 owner I concur.... I was quite taken back how the Droid 4 was announced barely 6 months after the Droid 3 hit the stores. Granted I see the differences in the Bionic and the Razr but I still consider the Razr a slap in the face to Bionic owners.

It is we who drive the market. I've been with Verizon for 2 years and have had 3 different phones. What other industry can post those sales numbers? My laptop was cheaper than my phones, yet it is 2 years older. My car is 14 years old, heck I've had the same wife for 30 years! But I want a new phone, and I want it now! Makes no sense. We should blame ourselves for creating the beast. Moto and Verizon just deliver the goods like drug dealers. We snatch them up, than complain when the next newest, greatest thing shows up the next day. We complain as were plopping our cash on the counter to buy!

For the number of cell phones going out the doors, a few unhappy folks wanting unlocked boot loaders barely makes a dent.

U dont think the maxx is a slap in the face to razr owners my coworker is pissed. I see him charging his phone all the time everytime i see him its plugged up. Now the same phone comes out with a massive battery and is still thin i dont even own it and i still like what are they thinking.

I agree, but in my opinion, the small group of people (relatively speaking) who want an unlocked bootloader should be accomodated. It would not hurt sales (again, my opinion). I think it may actually help their sales figures to make their devices more dev friendly.
