    http://phandroid.com/2012/09/05/motorola-promises-developer-phones-jelly-bean-and-an-incentive-for-those-left-behind/

With the flurry of announcements today, moto also says 'most' phone from 2011 and all from 2012 will be getting jelly bean. Also, for those left behind, they say they will give $100 off a purchase of a new moto device.

The word 'most' has be thinking immediately, the bionic will perhaps be left out as we don't have official ICS yet. Thoughts??

Moto is talking about JB when they cannot gives us even an estimated date for ICS OTA? They must be joking.

I'd rather have the $100 credit.

Depends on if I decide to trust Moto with another device. My upgrade was already 6 months old when I got a bionic, so I wont have it for a full contract, but I'm not entirely sure I even want to consider moto again...

I would. For all the hootin & hollerin goin on about upgrades, ICS, and data drops, my Bionic has been a good phone. Got it in late October of 2011 and haven't had many problems with it (lapdock experience is excluded from this statement!)

I guess I could agree. This current bionic is beast.

I will probably be all over a new nexus though, my upgrade is in January.

The nexus phone (What the plural of Nexus? Nexuses? Nexui? Nexus's? Nexus'?) Anyway... that would probably depend on who makes it.

I wouldn't hold my breath for jb to hit bionic by end of year or even getting it at all as we know they tend to push older phones aside once a new batch comes in and i learn not to trust what moto promise
I'll believe when i see it and won't even trust what the rep/tech support/ceo say
I'm very pleased with 242 so far and hope for a ota soon but who know when that'll be

This would be a wonderful opportunity for moto to make it up to us for treating us so badly by having a double release, giving the bionic ics and jelly bean on the same day and finally giving us the priority we deserve. But yeah right

i'd take the $100 credit. If there is a new Nexus though I might go that way although I like Motorola over all. Depends on the hardware of the various phones at the time I guess. I like the Nexus because of how fast Google releases the OS's for them. My brother in law has one and had had Jelly Bean for a long time.

Well, they've already released roms for the Bionic that run JB, so that is already an option. But I'm not too set on Bionic roms with the locked bootloader.

Nexuses. When it's a proper noun, you don't alter the base spelling when pluralizing (e.g. Kennedys vs. Kennedies, Blackberrys vs. Blackberries).

That $100 credit would make the Droid RAZR M free after the $50 mail in rebate. That might be the way to go. I love my Bionic, but a faster CPU would be divine for post emulation, the NFC/Android Beam technology seems like it will have some awesome uses too.

Then again, I already have the lapdock for my Bionic and I've been very much enjoying it with the ICS leaks. Maybe I could try to make a corded USB/HDMI cradle for the new phone to use the lapdock with it, but that doesn't mean there'd be Webtop for it though. :/

    Decisions, decisions.

Unless you have unlimited data like me then the $100 is a joke having to pay full price for a new phone to keep unlimited data
Most if the year i use around 4gig of data a month however during FOOTBALL season i use over 10gig so thats no dice for me

From what I've heard from members of this Forum with more knowledge then me...jelly bean is not a huge leap from ics. It would be much less work then gb to ics.

Yeah but I think we need to take into consideration that the bionic was discontinued months ago so we will probably get ics and then get left behind cause if I remember right ics promised to us and it's been almost a year since the bionic was released and still no ics. So even if they do update to jb by the time we get it u will always be 6 months to a year behind on os releases and still have to deal with a locked boot loader and u only get the 100 bucks if u upgrade to another locked down moto phone. I buy android to customize it to my hearts content but have been stuck with stock moto bs for too long and get worse signal than a Samsung so what is the point of owning a moto when their claim to fame is great signal on their phones when the bionic and razr both sux for reception? And ur stuck with their bloat wear and crappy os?

It is faster and smoother than ICS for sure. Feature-wise it isn't that much of an update.
