that is what we were all trained to say with the original droid. I wonder how many people still have the original droid? It will be a collector's item one day. You'll be able to tell your children or grandchildren "this is the first android device that ever came out..". Of course by then they'll ask "what is an android device?"

I still have mine. It works pretty well too. I plan on holding on to it. As you said, it may be a collectors item one day when my kids use phones that are capable of holographic technology. lol

Same crap from Motorola. Release all these phones like they are the best and got to have phones. I fell for this once with BIONIC as it was the best from Moto...Control all Droids! No thanks MOTO! I hope whoever buys these phones get the support they need because moto will just drop it after they get your money.

Yep, you are right. Here's all the numbers:

Model | Generation | Diagonal CM (Inches) | Resolution | PPC (PPI) | Aspect Ratio | CSS Pixel Ratio

iPhone / iPod Touch
4, 4S / 4th Gen
9.0 (3.54)
640×960
128 (326)
2:3
2

Motorola RAZR/MAXX
OG
11 (4.3)
960 x 540
101 (226)
16:10
?

Motorola RAZR/MAXX
HD
11.938 (4.7)
1196 x 720
130.32 (331)
16.6:10
?

I can't say these are 100% accurate but gleaned from several sources and the math to get to the Diagonal CM, aspect ratios and PPC versus PPI were done by me.

Call me crazy but aside from Google now I don't care for Jellybean. I like and use Adobe Flash player extensively.

I know I am just a newb on the forums, but one of the key questions for me is if they have solved the cracked screen issues on the Razr's. Too many people have reported cracked screens within days to risk $249 on an unsolvable design defect. My upgrade was in August but I have been holding out for the HD Maxx to see if they solve the screen issue.

I don't see how they could have cracked screens unless someone really abused it. I have the htc thunderbolt which also has the gorilla glass. I've had it since last march. Been dropped quite a few times and hardly any scratches on the glass. Now the outside is all chipped up but I can't see any scratches on the screen.

How clumsy are these people? The razr has gorilla glass if im correct, it should be pretty damn strong, All my droid 2's never got scratched let alone had a broken display and they had gorilla glass. My galaxy nexus doesn't have gorilla glass and its holding up really well. I think what it is since the razr is a popular phone you are going to hear more instances of people braking them.

Cracked screens come about with every new phone introduction, however when a phone is advertised as "scratch resistant", some choose to interpret that to mean "shatter-proof" when nothing could be farther from the truth. Also with the addition of Kevlar as a backing material, it gives some the impression that it's more resistant to dings such as those suffered when dropped. Again, nothing could be farther from the truth.

I've seen plenty of postings for ALL models of phones which have suffered screen cracking, and some will admit it was their fault, others won't and still others may not know it was their fault but simply "discover" the damage after last seeing it with no cracks. People carry these phones in their back pockets and sit on them, in their front pockets and then lean over to pick something up or to sit down, drop them inside their pocketbooks and then toss keys into the pocketbook on top, etc. Glass is glass, and glass being as hard as it is (although somewhat flexible), is also brittle. Any structure that is as dense and rigid as glass will shatter with the right amount of pressure, stress, shock, or flex.

What I am saying in a nutshell is, there isn't necessarily an inherent propensity toward cracking in the Droid RAZRs, but there may be an implied indestructibility that causes people to be less careful with them, which in turn results in the cracking. These phones are thinner than anything else out at the time of introduction and with that thinner form factor comes a greater potential to flex. The manufacturer installed an internal frame of stainless steel to minimize the flex, but due to the laminated design (where every layer is physically attached to the one above and below it with adhesive or hardware, a flex in the case translates into a flex of the glass. This is in contrast to other phones where the glass isn't actually part of the physical structure as it is in the RAZR and instead is simply held in place by the exterior surrounding frame, adhesive or some other method.

See below;

Do a search on cracked screens associated with Razr's - much higher prevalence - especially on the Maxx - long thread on the Verizon forum with lots of people stating the screens cracked without abuse. One guy (an IT tech) put it on his nightstand, woke up the next morning to a cracked screen.

Just a sampling of the many threads out there:

While the Maxx HD is somewhat appealing I think I will stick with my current Maxx. Not worth the loss I would take selling and cost of buying outright just to get a bigger screen and not much more.
