Motorola Droid Dump! (boot.img, recovery.img, and system!

This thread is intended to provide developers of custom ROMs with some of the data they need to build said ROMs. Additionally, I am including the recovery.img from the Droid so developers such as Cyanogen might be able to provide us with a working Recovery terminal like Cyanogen's recovery terminal on the HTC Android devices.

This info will not be of much value to the non-developer folks out there, but once the developers have it, then will be able to provide us with some great things.

    Ok,
After following the instructions to Root my Droid. I then successfully copied a busybox binary to /system/bin and then was ably to
    Code:
    busybox cp -R /system /sdcard/system_dump
Linked is the full dump of the /system folder from the Droid!

    Mirror: system.zip

    [UPDATE]
    System dump from 2.0.1:system_2.0.1.zip
    boot.img from 2.0.1: boot.img
    recovery.img from 2.0.1: recovery.img

Was this made before or after applying the 2.01 update?

This is prior to the update. I have not been fortunate enough to receive the OTA yet. I will post another system dump once I have it.

So if I understand correctly. If we brick our droid we can recover it now?

Yep, sounds about right, but if someone can prove me wrong, by all means.

    Not yet...
We have the recovery.img, but until someone releases a modified version of it that gives us adb/fastboot access from the recovery terminal, we would not have any way to flash a backup back to the system in the event of a botched flash.

I am posting these files more for the developers who would be using them to release those modified versions.

What OS will this be? Probably 1.5 right?

I am dying for 2.1 Sense (like the rest of us LOL)

So if I root my Droid and then choose to un-root it would these files be the needed parts? Or is there no way to un-root a Droid? I'm former BB Storm-er so the whole OS modifying I get but still learning the ins and outs of tinkering with Android. Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong... but the gist of it is... if you break it bad, we can't fix it just yet.

Question. How did you copy the busybox binary to your /bin ? I'm having problems with it.

Copy it to your sdcard. Then unmount your sdcard from the PC and start an adb shell.

    then:
    Code:
    su
    cat /sdcard/busybox > /system/bin/
    chmod 6755 /system/busybox

I believe someone will need to write an operable recover console first.

Does anyone know where the original background is located? The default one that comes installed in the phone. Its not located in the wallpaper gallery on the phone. I like this background and would like to try others but I want the ability to set this wallpaper again
