1. You want that $100.00 in your pocket or an Amazon Fire TV don't you? Well here's the deal. With our new updated look we are in desperate need of an updated logo. The 'old' one has certainly served us well, but it's time. Find all the details here: bit.ly/1q0k6Wa

Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows if the ribbon for the Droid2's are the same as the Droid1's. I have been using a friends R2D2, and I absolutely love the spaced out keypad. Does anyone know if they work in the Droid1's or should I just buy one and fine out for everyone?

You mean take half of the Droid 1 and half of the Droid 2 and make a Droid 1.5 - it probably will not work

The Droid 2 Global is what I would be looking at if I were you

No... I mean just the Droid 2 keypad. I'm sorry if I was misunderstood.

I understood - and it probably won't work, I like the D2 keypad also - it is quite the improvement but I am going to wait to upgrade from the Original Droid for something bigger and better

Well I am sort of looking for a more of a technical explanation of the compatibility, like backed up with fact. I am wondering if anyone has done any repairs on the Droid 2 as well as the Droid 1. I have only had experience with the Droid 1. I have not had a client yet needing repair on a 2, so I do not know if all the internals of the 2 are identical, just upgraded, rather than only a more sleek casing.

Awesome, I see in the pictures that the connection is the same, that's the first good news. Just hope there is no "driver" type issue with it.

That's a good link, thank you for that.

I'd like to know if they're swapable too. The keyboard only costs about ten bucks.

Do you know where to find one then? None of my normal suppliers carry Droid2 parts yet.

    I guarantee it wont work.

If its that big of a deal why not just get a Droid 2 and have all the benefits of an upgraded phone?

lol cmon, no need to shoot down his idea.

maybe he's not eligible for upgrade and doesn't wanna pay the full price. If all he's looking for is the keyboard upgrade, why not let him try? Hell if it's an easy mod i would do it myself as well.

Im not trying to be mean, just being real. Ive been repairing and tweaking electronics like cell phones for awhile and "most" of the time, even between upgrades to the same device, if hardware profiles change at all they are usually not interchangable with each other.

Why? Dunno, Im guessing the manufacturers do this to keep people from doing just what he wants to do, and force them to replace their devices with the newer model.

And that's exactly why I am doing it. To find out. I mean... The keypad was $11 shipped. There is no reason NOT to try it.

Also, Im willing to bet that part you ordered is simply the keypad (just the buttons) and not the actual keyboard itself. Which wouldnt do you any good.

Hope Im wrong, that would be cool to swap out...when I had a Droid 1 my biggest complaint was the crappy keyboard.
