ya you can save it back as stated before, it just needs to be the same ammount of frames so it matches with the load time i think so it works smooth when you upload it.

It would help to know exactly how long the animation is and how many frames. That way we can determine the FPS. This way you know how long of a video clip to use and how many frames to save.

the first part is 76 frames, 2nd part is 16 frames. I dont know why its put into 2 folders but in original boot anim its part0, then part1 folder so yeap first folder has frames from 0-75 and second continues from 76 to 91. Also has a text document outside the folders.

The animation is divided in to 2 parts, the first part (part 0) is 76 frames and consists of the word "droid" being drawn, and then the "O" part of the word morphing into the red eye. The second part (part 1) is 16 frames and appears to be a looping animation of just the red eye sort of throbbing. Perhaps the second part is looped infinitely until the device boots up. There is also a text file in the zip called desc, i can't figure out what this file does.

edit: didn't see above post. Jinx!!

ok I just modified the original bootanimation.zip. I stole the blue motorola one that someone posted, chopped it up into 256x256 .pngs, renamed them to fit the current naming scheme (480_427_000xx), re-zipped, and then ADB pushed it to data/local/bootanimation.zip. No dice, I still get the original droid eye. Ill share the original file, and the one I modified if anyone else wants to try, or if someone else has the guts to push it to /system/media. Gimme a few minutes.

BTW- I only changed part01 of the zip file. part00 was left intact. It was just easier this way because the original part01 consisted of 16 pngs, and the blue motorola animation consisted of 16 frames.

ya but your problem most likely is the text tells it to originally play from part 0, when it sees that part 0 and 1 dont match it probably reverts to the original backup file.. just a guess.

Does anyone really think that blue moto thing is better than the eye?

I don't get it. It's a 35 sec boot, that most users see once a week at most. Obsess much?

You are in a the droid hack section of the forums asking if we are obsessed??? Of course we are!!! We are trying to figure out how this phone handles the boot animation, it is being handled differently than other android phones and we are trying to figure out the process. The satisfaction we get is not necessarily from changing the boot animation, as much as it is from figuring out how it works.
