Here is a modified GDE theme with Apps Organizer and the black status bar. started with basic Hero theme. Anyone like I will post instructions on how to do it. Does require root.

The bottom menu look is the Hero theme for GDE. A free download once you have GDE.
I emailed the developer of the Hero theme for GDE to ask if he could sharpen up the images as they seem a tad fuzzy on the Droid.
He replied that he would try.

The only 2 hero themes I could find were grey and white. This one was changed to brown. Along with diff background on menu and some icons were changed.

The entire bar minus the phone menu and settings icon is just one .png so I guess you could do it with any home replacement. What I did was download the hero theme for gde since it almost was what I was looking for. unzip it used gimp to change the colours. zip it back up resigned it and install.

I would love to have that in red. How did you pull the gde theme off of the droid?

The easy way is to use Droid Explorer all the themes that are installed on your droid are located in the /data/app/ copy the com.deejay.Hero.apk to anyplace on your pc. I use winrar to unzip it. All of the .png files will be in the /res/drawable/ I use gimp but photoshop works ok to. After making any changes you like just put the file back into the /res/drawable/ re zip it back up and using droid explorer under tools plugins sign package and point it to your new .zip file it will then make a new .zip signed file copy that over to the sd card and rename it to .apk then install it. I have found that you can replace icons in the theme also, just make sure to name it the same name.
need any help let me know.

When I go to /data in Droid Explorer, it shows nothing.
I'm rooted and BusyBox is installed.

    Any ideas?

Nothing listed, just has "Droid Explorer Debug Console" at the top.
Clicked the debug button and nothing gets listed.

great at least your in now and can have some fun with it. also the chmod 755 sets the /data/ dir wide open for access. off top of my head I can't remember what the default is to set it back but a power off then on will set it back to it's default.

Now, did you change the status bar and shade here, or did you modify the framework-res.apk?

    Thanks for the help ;)

I did not do the status bar I found that on another post. He did not say how he did that and I'm trying to figure that one out so I can make it the same color as my theme. I did find the .png file for it and changed it to brown but something went wrong in the repack and signing process and I bricked the phone. But at least I now the recover image works. The other parts of the theme you can change here is one example of the latest change I made to it. the background to the all applications.

One final thought for tonight. If you don't already have Root Explorer I would recommend getting it. You can find it in the app store. It is a paid app 2 or 3 dollars but well worth it. You can copy past rename change permissions remount drive to rw ro install apk apps and more. Sounds like a commercial for it doesn't it. Really handy tool.

The images for the status bar and shade are in the framework-res.apk in the \res\drawable-hdpi\ folder.
    status_bar_background.png
    status_bar_close_on.9.png
    statusbar_background.9.png

Lots of other stuff in ther too ;)
