Mobile network 3G is gone- Droid 2

Last night my Droid2 lost it's 3G network. It receives calls and texts, but I cannot check my email or browse the web.
Here is what I have tried to do to fix it:
- dialed *228 option 2 and also option 1.
- turned it off and took out the battery.
- called vzw support, they had me go to settings: battery/data manager: data delivery: then select all three options. They suggested I get a new phone, or reset it to its original settings so it is like new.

Does anyone have other suggestions regarding what else i can do to get 3G network back on my phone? Meanwhile I can use wi-fi, but that is not always available.

You can try this to see if the information is of use: ##7764726(spells program), tap DIAL, second screen shows SPC code, for VZW, they use 000000 (six), tap verify, scroll list...

nevermind, the phone spontaneously got its 3g mobile network again. that was strange...
