Mobile Hotspot?

Do you see a future where a ROM would allow FREE usage of the FROYO hotspot feature on the Droid X? Or is there an APP that will allow such a beast on a ROOTED X ?

The one real bummer with wireless tethers out there, like barnacle, is that they create an ad-hoc network, and thus my VPN software won't work with it. Wish there was a way around that, but they all seem to do the same thing.

I have Wireless tether on my rooted DX and yes it is an ad-hoc network but my wife's Citrix VPN client works fine over it.

Must be something different than my vpn client then, because mine doesn't even see the ad-hoc network.

What version of wifi tether are you using?

There is 2.0.5pre8 here: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

I had trouble with WEP and Access Control with this version.

I found 2.0.5pre8-test1 in one of the Issues threads:

I can use WEP with this version *or* Access Control, but not both at the same time.

PDA Net...its a free app...no root required and u can usb tether or use the Bluetooth DUN....
