You installed a fresh rom, so all your stuff is gone. youre gonna have to just edit the user dictionary yourself. its not an error or anything thats just how it works

That doesn't sound right to me. I installed 2.2 Froyo and my dictionary is fine.

Srry if bein a lil slow but not only did my droid come w a populated dictionary, it was an impressive dic at that. Im thinkin its not purely populated by user, there has to be some sort of library somewhere..

not sure what you mean... but it seems the suggestion functionality is working, for example it suggests items such as names from my phone book, but it does not have any other words to suggest. like at all. not apple, and, love, butt, nothing, running, sleeping. none.

i need to find a populated dictionary - i was very impressed by the wide range of the dictionary it came with.

Thats interesting... Which rom did you install? You could also try another keyboard, such as the htc_IME one. [MOD] HTC_IME (8th June) v27: Small fix - xda-developers I know that that one comes with a dictionary. It could be that the rom you flashed just didnt include the dictionary with the keyboard in order to save memory.

Onix is iirc, based off a leak, and Cyanogen is built from source. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/bugless/58946-built-source-vs-leaked-binary-builds.html

I installed onix the other day myself and have exactly the same problem. Did you find a solution to this. It bothers me as well. The stock dictionary was very extensive and now it basically only finds my contacts. If I start typing in a text message, "Don" intending to type donut, it will only find a contact named Donald, donny, or something like that. Very simple words that it used to find it does not. Also, when the autocomple highlights a word, I used to be able to click on space bar...that does not work anymore. Really, my only issue with this onix rom. I really want a fix for this though.

I never found a fix per say, as in a library or anything, but I determined it was onix by switching roms. Switched to cyanogen, and it murders onix. Also copped swiftkey, which will do the fix for onix cuz it comes with its own library, and builds its own dynamically. Amazing.

Can you tell me specifically why it's so much better than onix? I may to the ROM install but doing this first one was the first one I have ever done on a phone, so I'm just a little leery.

Thanks for the feedback though. downloaded that keyboard and trying it now

I tried the swiftkey but with that keyboard I lose the voice to text, which I really like.

Now I'm really peeved because I can't install the cyanogen mod for some reason. It keeps coming back up to Onix. I can't believe they would put together a ROM and completely forget about a text dictionary. This is unreal. Swiftkey is a good keyboard but by using that one, I can't use voice to text.

this may be stupid, but by any chance did you accidentally change the dictionary to spanish? check your space bar if it says english or espanol
