Mindspring - Earthlink Email

Just bought wife Droid but cannot connect to Mindspring email. Error states wrong username/password but it is correct. Any ideals on how to correct this? Thanks

Yeah, this drove me nuts for a while. Here's what finally worked for me:

1st screen should be obvious: your full email address (with "@mindspring.com") & password
check the box if this is your default account for outgoing mail

2nd screen - type of account
Click on "POP3."

After you click "POP3" many of the fields on the next two screens will be filled in for you, but not all of them are correct. I've highlighted the settings you need to change in bold.

3rd screen - Incoming server settings
Username: <yourname> (without "@mindspring.com")
Password: <your password>
POP3 server: pop.mindspring.com
Port: 110
Security type: none
Delete email from server: Never*

When you click "Next" you will see a progress bar for a moment, and if everything is okay, you'll be at the Outgoing server settings

4th screen - Outgoing server settings
SMTP server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Port: 587
Security type: TLS (Accept all certificates)
Require sign-in: checked
Username: <yourname>@mindspring.com
Password: <your password>

After you click "Next," you're on your own. Set how often you want the phone to check your email, how you want to be notified, etc.
