    Hello,

I tried to get 2.2 on my phone so I downloaded the 2.2 update file from here.

So i downloaded the file, put it on the root folder of my phone. installed from sdcard and when i rebooted the phone the phone keeps replaying the "droid" screen and the "redeye" screen over and over and over again. what did i do wrong? I was using rooted 2.1 prior to doing this, if that's any help, and i'm also using clockwork recover mod as well.

    thanks

OK, I can see what went wrong with this. Let me ask you, what is the end result you are looking for? I guess, what are you trying to do exactly?

if you used the small patch file on that thread, that's likely what caused your issue... here's the full system file: http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/verizon_voles/a5e329b00288.signed-voles-ota-50454.zip

do the same thing you did, but with that file, and it should work

edit: sorry, posted right after Abe so I didn't see his...

I would download the file as noted above and install it. If you have clockwork still do it the same as before.

If you don't have clockwork do it this way:

    Written by PhoenixGTR on DF:

[FONT=&quot]1)rename downloaded file update.zip and move to directory /sdcard using a file manager (make sure you have file extensions showing; Note: update.zip.zip won't work)
    2) Turn your phone off.
3)Boot into recovery (Press Power then press X; when you seen the phone is turning on you can let go of Power but keep holding X)..
    4) Wait for a triangle with exclamation point to appear and release X.
    5) Press the volume up button and hold and quickly press the camera button and hold. Recovery console will appear.
    6) Using the D-Pad select “apply update.zip”; . Let the update proceed. When it's complete, use D-Pad to select reboot phone.

Not gonna work. He installed the 2.2 patch file but never installed the actual 2.2 update.

If he wants to go back to stock then go with Abe21599
If he wants to try again, go with jntdroid and THEN reinstall the patch file.

The master FRG22D OTA file will do the same thing now that the FRG01B master OTA did -- overwrite everything. Unless the install borks somehow, using the SBF shouldn't be needed.

That was my thought as well - but what I'm NOT sure of is if it will install through Clockwork. I know it does through SPR, and obviously through stock recovery, but I've never done it through Clockwork, or seen anybody report doing it - not that that means anything.

Good point. Clockwork should let it install, but there's no guarantee. Yet another reason why I like SPRecovery. Basic is sometimes best.

Give it a try, OP, and please let us know what happens!

If that master 22D file works through spr AND clockwork, then the "unroot" instructions become much simpler. If that's the case, then, as you said, the only time an .sbf is even needed is if there is a problem where recovery can't be reached... really simplifies the "unroot" process and/or instructions.
