Welcome to the Forum @JoKacz .

The issue is on the iPhone side. Hopefully you still have your iPhone as you will need to disable iMessages.

You need to call 1-800-MY-APPLE in order to have Apple manually de-register your phone number from the Apple servers. In order to do this, make sure you have your Apple ID on hand as well as the phone number in question.

I personally prefer the stock messenger to the Verizon version.

Welcome to the forum!

A lot of people have had this problem. Luckily you could get out of it. Apple doesn't like anyone to convert once they've "seen the light". ;)

Let us know if there are any other issues as we're quite happy to help! Also, consider looking into a different messaging app. Not that there's anything wrong with the Verizon one, per se, but you might find something better if you look. ;)
