On the 16GB model, with a 32GB card, I can't do app updates because I get an error message, "insufficient memory" Because so much can't be put on an SD Card, I'm not certain that getting a 64GB card will fix the issue but that's my next step unless you have other suggestions.
I have gotten rid of apps that weren't favorites, gone on to uninstall apps that I DO use often! I clear cache often.
I'm really frustrated- what move do you recommend as 1st step toward solution?

Get rid of vidoes, pictures, and music that aren't important. I am constantly on the same teeter tawter you are.

Go to settings, check Storage, and look at photos, downloads, misc data, etc and see what you've got that can be moved to the card. If it's going to max out the card to do so the yes a bigger card would help.
If that doesn't work you can either get a free app called Clean Master to clean up residuals and hidden junk or also go to your settings again, Application Manager (might be worded differently but it's your apps) and clear the caches on your apps individually.
Another possible memory hog could be downloads on your browser. Depending on the browser the instructions to clear them may be different but it'll be in the browsers settings somewhere.
    Hope that helps

Unless they are games, apps normally don't take up a lot of memory. So I wouldn't think that deleting non-games apps is the first place to start.

Things are take up considerable memory are:

    1. Movies
    2. Music
    3. Pictures

You'll just have to make more tough choices as you look at the above types of files.
