media sync

I am trying to download pics to my computer via USB so I can then transfer them back to my phone on a different SD card, but I don't know which connection type to use. Whenever I select media sync, nothing ever happens. Can someone help steer me in the right direction here?

Go to market and download wifi file browser. It is easy to use.
