Maxx and Gmail update issue?

I have had my Maxx for three days now. For the first two days Gmail would update at normal time. Now it wont update until I go into the app and refresh. I dont think I changed any of the settings. The only smart action I have so far is the night time battery saver. I have uninstalled all updates for gmail with no help. It is now back up to date.

Any suggestions?

Also completely different issue. Sometimes when I lock the phone the purple LED will flash. I have no idea why it is doing that, it happens while on 4G, 3G, WIFI, high battery levels, low battery levels. Any ideas?

The LED thing though I have not.
