To check your version go to settings, applications, manage applications, market. The version will be under the name. My brother and sister have droids running market version 2.12. Also, if you go to the market and select help it will direct you to the support page. Select users then troubleshooting then updating android market. It indicates on that page the latest version is 2012 (2.12)

Yeah, I am aware of the market site. It doesn't work for me though. I'm thinking because i'm rooted...not sure how to fix it.

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

Yeah, ditto... There're some comments around talking about the validation checking with Froyo is stronger than at 2.1 or before. Some folks say they had luck with clearing the cache & data, force stopping the app then rebooting. That didn't help me.

What'll probably have to be done is for someone to capture the 2012 apk and redistribute it manually.

Would the apk have to be specific to BB5? I found one on the xda website: Android Market 2.12

I downloaded it but it will not install. I'm not sure why..and i don't know if i should be specifically dropping it in system/apps or what.

It should install from any directory you drop it in, but as you say, the process ends up with "App not installed".

Looking through the system logs shows it installing and finishing, but never posting any error. :(

    More info...

My wife also has a Droid, and it's rooted but running a stock ROM and Kernel. She's running market 2.12.

I figure that this is hinging around the ro.build.description or ro.build.fingerprint entries in system/build.prop (which our different between our phones) but I haven't had a chance to experiment with swapping them back & forth.

Where do you find FRG83? BB5 says FRG22d, is it an earlier version ?

It is the latest stock file system from Peter Alfonso. Peter Alfonso

Yes, BB.5 is based off an earlier version by quite a few versions.

So what's the difference with this new Market? I have 1.82 on my Droid, and my roommate has 2.12 on his Samsung Epic with Froyo, and they look and act exactly the same.

BigMcGuire, im confused.. "the latest stock file" what do you mean by that?

I thought Peter's latest rom was BB5 based off of FRG22d?

Nevermind.... I assumed ROM Manager would prompt me to update to the newest file? Apparently not. I see what you mean now.

OSX2000, I don't know what the difference is between the two..1.82 for me rarely updates by itself.. thought maybe 2.12 might
