Hey does anyone have a fix for frg01b rooted that Pete just made available? I can't see skype or MLB at bat, and wanted to know if there was a fix specifically for that one that I should use. Thanks!

The fix found earlier in this thread (the one that replaces the build.prop file) works. I was able to find two apps that had been missing for me (bTunes & RadioTime) since installing FRG01B.

You may want to make a backup copy of your original build.prop first using something like Root Explorer.

So if I replace the build.prop file from the market fix zip file, I should be good to go?

    Thanks,

    Ross

    Yes.

You can just rename the downloaded file update.zip, place it in the root of your SD card and install it with either ClockworkMod Recover or SPRecovery. Or...

What I did was to extract the build.prop file from the zip file and copy it to my SD card. I then used Root Explorer to navigate to the /system directory and made a backup copy of the original build.prop file. I then copied the new one into the /system folder and rebooted.

Upon reboot, I was able to find the apps that had been missing. Keeping a backup copy of the original build.prop will allow you to restore it to the original version whenever these market issues are addressed.

Note that in "Settings > About phone" that it will no longer show FRG01B for the build number. It will show:

    voles-userdebug 2.2. FRFxx 33333 test-keys

    Thanks,

I got root explorer, went to delete it and replace it with the new one and it says it is read only? Any thoughts on how that gets fixed?

    Thanks

There's a button at the top of the screen: "Mount R/W" (for read/write).

Long-press on files to bring up context menu.

So, after pressing the "Mount R/W" button, you would long-press on build.prop and then select "Copy." Hit the "Paste" button at the bottom of the screen and it will make a copy.

You can then find the new build.prop wherever you put it and copy and paste it into the /system folder.

Remember to press the "Mount R/O" button when you're all done.

    Finally, reboot the phone.

If you don't feel comfortable doing all of that, simply make a backup of your entire current ROM with ROM Manager / ClockworkMod Recovery or SPRecovery and then just install the update.zip containing the new build.prop.

Actually, you should really always make a backup of your current working ROM before doing anything!

I did it the complicated way because I like to know what's going on.

    I got it!

I had to hit the mount r/w button to get it to actually delete the file.

Once I did that we were good to go.

I'm still not seeing the market. I have updated with the latest version.

    My settings
    Android Version 2.2 (rooted)
    Baseband version c 01 3E.03P
    Kernel version 2.6.32.9-g103d848 android-build@apa26 #1
    Build number FRG01B

Any help would surely be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris,

how did you try and delete it? I used root explorer, once I did that and rebooted it worked for me, it will change your version like noted above as well

Oh....I'm sorry. I see the market and it brings up SOME of the apps when I type things in the search bar. But when I hit APPS or GAMES tab, I just see a spinning "working" symbol and it never goes off of that blank page. I have good network and phone signals. If I type in Weatherbug elite....I only see the one item.

I still can't access the market via the apps tab or the games tab and all barcode scans of apps that come from the market show that they are not there.

Most apps are shown in FRG22 so you shouldn't need a market fix.
Using this market fix could cause Battery usage issues since it allows 2.1 apps to be installed also.
