Is there a way to make phone calls if your service is off??? Been thinking about turning of my service and just use wifi but I need to make calls also

Yes. Under settings data usage. Just turn it off and you just need to turn on the WiFi on your phone.

So even though Verizon turns my phone off I can still make calls??

Not on their network no. I believe google has an app or something out that will allow you to make calls without a contract. I'm not sure if it is free. If anyone else out there know's what im talking about lol please speak up. Until then, let me try and find the link.

OK, so you want to cancel your service but still have the ability to make calls over wifi rather than Verizon's (or any other carriers) data network.

1. regardless of having service or not, you CAN still make calls to 911.

2. The free app Tango may work and still let you make calls using the wifi only. Viber is another option, but I tried it in the past and it did not work. One caveat though is the person you are making a call to must also have Tango (or Viber) installed on their phone.

3. Google Voice may work too.
