Making and receiving calls on 1x?

Today I was testing my Droid and noticed it dropped to 1x for about 45 seconds. During that time I attempted to call the phone from a landline.
All 3 times the phone went straight to voicemail!

Curious, can you guys make and receive calls on 1x? Or is this just confirmation to the issues that I have been having?

well i know i can make calls on 1x, as for receiving them not sure never paid attention. if i notice today i will let you know.

Ok cool thanks! Yeah, it doesn't drop there very often. I was wondering what happens when it switches like that.

Usually no bars. Greyed out.

But when it's on 3G with no bars it seems to place and receive calls just fine.
