Magnetic pouch holder caused battery drain

I just purchase a new Droid and a leather horizontal side pouch with a magnetic closure. Come to find out that the magnet will turn the Droid on when it is put in the case resulting in display power drain and making the battery run down extra quick. When checking all this out at the Verizon store we found out that this happens with all Droid A855 models. The store people were amazed to find out their personal Droid phones also got turned on when putting them in a magnetic closure pouch. So a word of caution to all Droid owners….get a holder without a magnet.

Good point. Back last November there was a memo from Verizon discussing problems with the Droid (camera focusing for example) and the solutions (the {then} upcoming upgrade). One was that holsters with magnets will cause the Droid to go into either Home or Car mode. The answer was to suggest to the customer that they get one designed for the Droid which uses Velcro. That's what I did.

There is a app called Dock Blocker which prevents the Droid from changing.
