Is it just me or is the speaker phone really quiet on this phone? It's not a problem with the speaker because the media volume is nice and loud. Anyone else notice this?

Can a custom rom fix this? Or is that not really possible?

Not likely. Has it been that way all along?

Yes, it hasn't changed. My Touch Pro 2 was much louder.
I can't hear this phone while driving, or walking down a busy street on speakerphone. It was not a problem with my old phone.
Even on a noisy street i find the max call volume quiet low when not using the speakerphone and the phone at my ear.

I'd take it in to Verizon, sounds like the phone to me.

Are you saying that the speakerphone is as loud as the media volume on your phone? I'd say mine is only about 1/2 as loud.

I agree, the speakerphone volume is too low, and I am a heavy speakerphone user....

Which Verizon droid phone(s) do you all recommend for good speakerphone quality?:greendroid:

Is this something that can be fixed with an updated driver or something? Its especially frustrating since the speaker itself is very capable

I hate the low volume of the D2 Global compared to all of our previous droids and other phones. Both me and my wife's phones are both that way. I went into Verizon and they just said it was not a defect, "all phones vary in their volume". What crap.

Off topic, but also we live in the US near Canada and go over there twice a month for maybe 6 hours. Now that it is a Global phone, I got hit for over $100 in intl data charges, plus a bunch of other intl charges for text messages that came in while we where there, etc. I was never charged any this with my original Droid (I'm guessing because it just connected to the CDMA tower). Verizon said tough luck, pay it, that this even though the US tower is only a few hundred yards from us when we are in Canada the Droid 2 Global (and all phones made in the last year) are "smarter" and will bypass that and pick the Canadian tower and charge you the super high phone and data international rates. We know we have to add that when we go on Cruises to Mexico, etc. but it is stupid that we would have to add and then delete the international plan for a 6 hour dining, shopping or casino trip.

I've noticed a problem with the quality of the in call volume, but just the other day I've had a MAJOR decrease in volume, either I'm deaf or my phone is messed up. The in call volume is at max and I can BARELY make out anything the perrson on the other line is saying, and this is in a silent room.

I agree! When I am driving, I can't even hear the caller unless I hold the phone within 5 or 6 inches of my ear (basically right against it). Placing it in the dash holder renders it useless because the phone can't overcome road noise. I was able to use a previously purchased visor mounted bluetooth speaker so there are workarounds but the phone should be louder on its own.

Not to be a jerk... But you KNEW you were going across the border. That is international. You got charged international rates. If I worked for Verizon, I would have refunded you, because accidents happen. HOWEVER, there's an easy option to set your phone to CDMA only, or to turn off data completely, and in the end, that responsibility lies on you.

Turning it to CDMA is not quite enough, as you can roam on CDMA in Canada.
Turning data off works of course, and maybe turning off roaming data would be enough.

As I type this (on a computer) my Droid 2 Global decides to reboot. Maybe I said something wrong!

you really saved my life (or sanity :)), because the volume really went tremendously after rooting with 4zroot to the point that I thought I screwed up the phone! Big thanks for calling my attention to those settings!
