No worky with global or GSM/CDMA selected while on a call. Data just doesn't work.

That's really weird... Do you think there's a setting "off" somewhere that you wouldn't ordinarily think to look? I just called my desk phone and ran a few websites and sent and received a couple of texts successfully. I even loaded Waze and went outside so GPS could find me -- all while still connected with the phonecall.

Nope. It's the moto radios. I could talk and data with my thunderbolt years ago. This new VoLTE is crap.

Waze doesn't need data, if the maps are cached. This is me in airplane mode. It uses the Gps signal.

Wow....
I guess I'm spoiled. I've only had Moto phones since I left Palm (or Palm left me). I can't remember if I had that ability with them, but I don't think it was an option back then. The known only issue I ever had was the other day when I started this thread.
Edited:
Wait.... Are you saying I should NOT be able to do this with Moto?

It's much more limited on the newer devices with the introduction of VoLTE.
ONE more reason to purchase a.....ok ok, I won't go there..this time!

I think that's what we are saying. With Advances Calling turned Off, you should not be able to use websites and calls at the same time. I don't know how it's working for you with AC off.

Right. It shouldn't. That's what doesn't make any sense.

That's strange. But, as the old saying goes...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Just a quick history lesson for your info. The Droid Maxx was the first Verizon phone to get the Advanced Calling (also called VoLTE) update a few years ago. That phone, and all other prior had 2 radios...one for calls and one for data. Since then, Verizon has mandated that all new Verizon phones come with only one radio active, and all calls & data use the same radio. That's where Advance Calling comes into play. If it's ON, then the phone can make calls / send texts and use data at the same time. With Advance Calling turned Off the phone can't do voice & data at the same time. At least that's how it is for the rest of us. :) I know on my wife's Turbo 2 when I turned AC Off to troubleshoot something and forgot to turn it back On she could not get onto a website with the Chrome app while on a call and was pretty ticked at me.

And having it set to Global wouldn't have anything to do with this, right? I took a couple of screen shots while sitting at a dentist's office waiting on my kid. I'll see if I remember how to share here.

It shouldn't make a difference if Global is selected, but typically you'll want to keep it on LTE/CDMA for the best overall coverage.... especially if you want to use voice & data at the same time.

The Turbo 2 comes with it set to Global by default. Not sure why, but it does. I leave mine and my wife's set to Global and have had no issues with call quality or data connectivity
