I have a link in my signature that is a great step-by-step guide to rooting. It is pretty self explanatory.

As for ROMs and kernels, they are kind of a personal choice and everyone has their favorites. I would suggest you go into the hacks section and read the various developers threads. There you will find information on the different ROMs. Once you have chosen a ROM then read to see what kernels the developer recommends. Not all kernels work with every ROM.

    Hope this helps.

For a ROM, I suggest starting with CyanogenMod, they are simple but fast. If you wanna start with features, CyanogenMod has features, but my personal favorite are Ultimate Droid and Kangerade roms. They are fast and have nice add-ons. I personally think UD has the most features though.

A good way to tell is to o nto the app drawer, and see if you have Superuser app. If so, you're rooted. You can go to the custom roms section, most roms are downloadable there, and have instructions. Mainly you will ggo into recovery mode (powr on and hold x) and flash it.

I'm not clear on what step you are at but I'm guessing you want to install a rom. If you are positive that you have successfully rooted your phone (super user app w/Ninja icon) or use a terminal emulator and enter the $ sign will switch to # if you are rooted.

If you are rooted and want to install a rom download the rom, rename the file you just downloaded to "update.zip" (make sure there is only one ".zip" extension), mount your phone, open, the phone/sd card on your computer desk top, create a folder named nandroid (if you have not done so), copy the update.zip to the root of your SD card, boot into SPRrecovery, make a advanced nandroid backup, wipe data and cache 3 times, select allow install, install (dec) reboot.

If you have any questions get answers before you proceed.

BB is a good rom. You do not need to install a kernel to run the rom. I believe that the developer has a kernel built in that OC's to 600. If you want to move to a higher speed then you will need to install a kernel. Check on the BB page to see what the developer recommends. Previously, Chevy's kernels were recommended and they work well on most rooted Droids.

    Mike

Install the rom dl the kernel, rename the kernel to "update.zip", mount your phone, remove or rename the update.zip (rom), add the kernel (update.zip) boot into SPR, make a backup, do the install, install (dec) do NOT wipe, reboot.
