I am going to hijack this topic, I am rooted and running Simply Stunning v4.7. I doubt the kernel matters but it is a low voltage 250Mhz to 1Ghz 7 slot kernel. How would I go about changing the theme?

It depends on the theme. Most usually give instructions, but the most common method is to take the zip file provided and install it via nandroid (either directly or via rom manager). Some themes are applied using an app known as Metamorph (MM).

Most important thing is to make sure that your rom is supported, including versions.

So one would need to root, then need to install a ROM then a theme?

Looking for a checklist, I would prefer to not have to root because knowing my luck I would brick it even following the directions to a T.

Another question, do most of the roms support multiple themes or would I have to "re-rom" if I decide I am bored with a theme after a week, or just don't like the way it looks?

You need to be rooted to use the full blown themes you find in this section of the forum. HOWEVER, it *is* possible to achieve many of the same effects through certain launchers. I've never gone that route myself, but I know the themes ARE there for the various launchers.

Your first step, if you don't want to root your Droid, would be to read up on the details of those alternatives. Look around the forum and you'll find various threads that deal with those type of themes.

    HTH,
