    I think Jaunty is still in the early Beta stages of development using the LOOP partition method in Galoula's Linux Installer (Developer's Page at bottom). Squeeze is also still in testing according to the Developer. For the time being if you want to use the LOOP file method I would recommend using Lenny. (This is from pure personal experience). It seems to be the most stable when installing into LOOP.

    If you have your heart set on Jaunty then I would recommend creating your own ext3 or ext4 partition on your SDcard for the install. Then install into it as you would the LOOP. At least for me this seemed to work a lot better for Jaunty (In my experience having Linux on its native File System tends to avoid some issues that can arise from porting).

    Again just my 2 cents on the issue. The link below is to the Developer's Website with a pretty decent tutorial, mind you it was kindly translated to English for all of us.

    Linux Installer

    I am not an affiliate of the Developer or his Application however, I will do my best to lend advise on the topic if people are in need. Cheers.

    I just subscribed to this thread. I have been learning Linux using cygwin on my computer. What can you do with linux on the phone. I have terminal emulator working on the phone and can write scripts using vi or the cat command, but it is easier to write script on the computer and then xfer to phone.

    I said "learning" so that means my scripts are meaningless/useless to date. What the heck good is knowing this stuff? You have to learn java to write an app. I have been looking at the cyberciti forum for help, but those boys are way, way over my head.

    My purposes for having a full Linux installation on an Android device is more about novelty for me than anything else. The ability to say "Look what these devices are capable of!" However there are uses to having a Linux install beyond showing off.

    First having access to native Linux binaries without going through the process of compiling your own through g++ or similar compiler.

    Another plus at least for myself is having the old familiar standard File Structure I'm used to. There are other little things here and there that make having the Linux install useful but for myself its primarily to show off =).

    @BlueSami
    Could you provide a little more info as to what you are downloading/extracting (I'm assuming a distro) but which one? It appears the file you are referring to over http is incomplete. Yeah, without a little more info I'm am unsure as to what the problem may be or how to fix it.
