With the upcoming release of 2.1, I plan on running live wallpaper on my Droid. I'm currently using the 2.1 Launcher with HTC Sense-style Theme from DroidLife.com, but it already force closes and makes the phone run slow on occasion. I'm sure it will be worse with live wallpaper.

However, I love having 5 screens and was very disappointed to hear the Droid 2.1 will not have them. So it looks like I am back to needing a custom launcher. I would like one without the 3D app drawer since that is what seems to be the root of a lot of problems.

Does anyone know if a launcher like either of the following exists:

    1) 2.1 style app button with "dots" and cardview, but without the 3D tray.
    or
    2) HTC Sense style launcher w/ phone and browser buttons, but no 3D tray.
    or
    3) DroidMod style launcher w/ phone and browser buttons, but no 3D tray.

Helixlauncher doesn't quite meet your specs, but it lets you put 4 icons on the bottom of the screen that maintain no matter which of your up to 7 screens are displayed.

helix is the best launcher ive tried. super stable and you can go up to 7 screens. i'm sure you could apply a MM theme to get it to look how you want

Helix has what he wants, minus dots. Card view is there as well.

Actually if you have the donation copy (1.3) you can even get the dots if you don't add any shortcuts.

I don't have access to the donor repository to see how well it works. But essentially, this launcher can do almost all of what the OP is looking for haha. Not all at one time but it can.

Donor version of Helix may be the way to go then. I've heard great things about it, but I'm not a big fan of "docking" icons to the bottom. If they added a version to add the "dots" instead, that is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

Now I just wish someone could make an apk that combines the Launcher2 HTC theme (w/ phone and browser buttons) with the Helix app drawer. That would be the best of both worlds for me.

    I have the 1.3 version.

You can opt to have the dots.

The app drawer is no longer full screen, the square is where the tab would be if open, but I believe you can theme it (not an issue to me)

Option to make hide the notification bar and be full screen, though I would like to see an option to go full screen again with the drawer.

You can opt to have NO icon descriptions on your screens, nice!

corrected the flipping of the shortcut icons when going to landscape.

And lastly, it moved icons if shrinking the number of screens, since people were ignoring the message in the app about that.

I felt it necessary to donate, however the dev will, in his own time, make it available thru the market as well.

I just donated HERE, through paypal, although I don't when donors get access to the repository, I'm guessing the dev sends an email with password?

    Tek,

Here is the link to the Dev. post on xda. With the donate version, last I read you have to donate at least 10 dollars, and some of the folks have reported having to wait a bit for the confirmation email. I think the dev. is in Singapore, and appears to not have an automated reply system. This appeared to be the case a few days ago, not 100% sure if the delay still holds.

Lol, I did $4, you would think he would have posted that somewhere. Oh well I wanted to donate anyway, I think I'll just wait until these features make there way into the update, they're coming often enough.

    Tek,

The 5 may work, just not sure. There was some talk in the thread where he said too many folks were just donating 1 dollar, and the paypal fees were taking most of that. At that point he said 10 dollars min., but that was several days ago. I had donated 5 bucks before the change, and I still have access to the repository, although I am playing with the market version right now.
