So, when I am texting, my hands are wrapped around the phone and the light keeps diming. I then realized that if my finger ends up covering the camera lens, the screen light dims. Does anyone else have this problem?

It's not the camera you're covering, it's the light sensor.

Correct. Put your finger across the top of the phone (where the earpiece is) and your screen will go to it's dim 'night' setting.
