Supposedly, LG is getting ready to release what is basically a downgraded version of the G4. It's called the LG G4 S and leaked images of the device just arrived on the internet.

As you can see from the image above, the device doesn't look that much different than the G4. It will supposedly have a 5.2-inch 1080P display, which will include a new In-Cell Touch technology that improves the responsiveness of touching the display.

The rumor-mill also suggests the device will have a 1.5GHz eight core processor of unknown design. More than likely this device will be released in the second half of July at a cheaper price point than the G4. What do you guys think? Is it too soon for LG to be launching a G4 branded mid-range device?

I think all the big guys are feeling heat from the Chinese manufactures who are offering flagship specked devices at 1/3 the price.

You can argue that these Chinese devices are cheaply made. Reality is they are using Sony and Samsung components and top rated MediaTek processors.

Heck, you can buy 2 or 3 and still be ahead...

Is called trickle down technology. It's a win for the consumer. As robotics improve in product assembly accuracy and plastics continue to improve we can get the same quality of device for a lot less money.
I've written in the past how it was predicted about a decade ago but televisions were the example used before.
Things like charging an extra $100 for more internal memory will most likely be the next push downward in price as consumers begin to tire of being ripped off and speak again with their wallet when someone takes the lead and doesn't gouge for extra onboard memory. It could be a sudden increase in sales of higher memory onboard devices in emerging markets that cause it after the Chinese drop the price on their phones or it could be iSheep and sSheep (the newest internal memory price gouger) wake up and jump ship but it'll happen.
