For those of you fortunate enough to have the Google Play edition of the LG G Pad 8.3 this bit of news won't mean much to you since you are already running Kit Kat 4.4.2. However for any of you that have the normal consumer version of the LG G Pad 8.3 you have been lacking this update. The standard version is still stuck on Jelly Bean 4.2.2. While we don't purchase devices specifically for the version of Android they are running we do have some expectation that we will at the very least eventually receive the first update that comes out. Many Google Play Edition roms have come out for the stock version of the LG G Pad 8.3, but if you bought the pad specifically for the included features you would lose those features if you flashed the GPE rom.
There has been a leaked version of the latest unreleased update for the G Pad. The build number is v50018a and will bring your device to Kit Kat 4.4.2. The build.prop shows release keys meaning this update may eventually be released officially to the masses via an over the air update. The only downfall to this leak is that it comes in the form of a TOT file which some users have found difficult to apply to their devices.
