I have this - my experience thus far:

I've tried Tile 8, Live Tiles and few other paid/free launcher apps. I hate to say it, but this the best I've found, and that's not saying much. They all seem glitchy. Stock GS3 on VZW, btw.
    THE GOOD:
It really LOOKS like W8. To me it's the best looking so far, the most true to W8. The spacing of the tiles is perfect, no tweaking required as with widget-maker apps like UCCW, and aesthetically it blows TileLauncher out of the water.
Many colors to choose from when setting the theme color.
It allows you to totally HIDE the status bar, and I love any launcher that gives me that ability.
    It's free!
The 'edit' mode works very well, reminds me of IOS in that respect, all the tiles start to float and you can drag them around. However, other tiles don't move out of the way for you, so it can get cumbersome.
The live tiles seem to do a fairly decent job in terms of refreshing.
You can customize the app drawer from list to grid, and even change the font color of icon names within the drawer.
You can create a a tile for any application you have.
The tiles are quite responsive, even the camera/Google Now.
There seems to be no limit to the number of tiles you can add, and the pages scroll only vertically. No multiple home screens.

    THE BAD:
The only tiles larger than 1x1 are the Dial, Clock, Contacts and Play Store tiles, which are native when you open the launcher. According the to dev, you can resize ANY tile. Editing tiles gives you options for both resizing and changing the color, and you are able to select new colors/sizes and save the change. But they don't stick. So you are stuck with a few larger tiles, and the rest are all 1x1.
When adding a widget as a tile, the tile will be the same size as the widget itself.
The Play Store tile, which comes native, does not work, at least for me. You can add the play store widget or create a new tile for the play store app, but you're stuck with the 1x1 layout.
When trying to change the wallpaper for the lock screen, the app F/Cs.

Overall it's the best I've used. But again, they all seem to suck, this one just sucks the least :) Were I able to actually resize and recolor any tile I wanted, I would pay $5 bucks for this app.

My experience with Launcher8 has been a little different.

I've had no problems resizing tiles to larger than 1x1 and them staying that way. I have tiles for apps, folders and contact shortcuts larger than 1x1 and they stay.

I think one thing that is required at this point in the app's life is to delete all the tiles that come preloaded and start fresh. I even think one of the mods here suggested this.

With today's update they broke being able to change the lockscreen wallpaper. I just changed mine yesterday and then updated today and noticed it will FC if you try to change now. I'm sure they will fix this in a new update soon.

Otherwise I agree with everything in the above post. I can't explain why they are having problems with resizing tiles but if someone is considering this launcher they might want to know that everyone (or every device) is not having similar problems.

EDIT: One problem I ran into is trying to save theme. I tried to do that today and it FC. First time I tried it so not sure if today's update broke that too.

One word of caution for new users: block out some time to set this up from scratch as it does take some time to add tiles and tweak.

Thanks. I did un install the app, re install it, delete all pre loaded tiles and start from scratch. At this point I am still unable to re size tiles or change their color. So sad about that. Dunno if it matters, in fact I'm sure it doesn't, but I'm running JB 4.1. Curiously when I try to link to the developers site from the play store, the site is invalid. I emailed them, but I'm not sure with the language barrier how things will go from here. I really like this app, but I'm gonna stop using it for a while. Maybe in a few months things will be normal. If anyone out there has a GS3, please share your experience?

    Update

So after the 1/8 update my issues have been resolved. I re installed the app today and viola - I was able to re size and change the color of the tiles, and disable/change the lock screen. I'm very, very pleased.
This has become my favorite launcher.

    Cool. Glad it's working now.

I'm really liking Launcher8 and I'm getting far superior overall performance from my device than I was with GO Launcher EX. Of course at first I thought it was my now-aging Droid X2 but it improved considerably simply switching launchers.

    Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I live in France, so please forgive my mistakes! ;-)

In fact i happen to have the exact same problem as aenflex. But latest update didn't change anything for me.

I'm completely unable to edit any tile in any kind of way.
I can't change the name of the tile, i can't bind any application, I can't change any color. I'm just able to move and resize them.

Maybe it's just a matter of settings but I don't know what to do, and I really want this launcher.
It's by far the best Windows 8-inspired launcher/theme I ever found for Android. I like it alot.

I tried to install/uninstall/reinstall multiple versions of the launcher but the same failures happened every time. Also tried to delete all tiles and add them anew but nothing worked so far. I'm close to desperation ^^

And by the way, I don't have a motorola device. It's a TCL-Alcatel One-Touch 995, and I'm running Android 4.0.4 stock. (I also tried different custom ROMs such as H1N1, and custom ICS - never worked).

    Any idea is welcome.

    Thanks!
    Ben/

EDIT : I just tried to use another WP launcher, just to test different things. I picked Launcher 7, which is basically the same as 8, but based on WP7 UI, and I encountered the same kind of problem.
As you open the launcher for the first time, it asks you to bind applications to tiles. Surprinsingly, I was unable to pick any of my applications and bind it to any tile. I can click the button, it leads me to sort of an app drawer, I can pick any app I want, but nothing happens then. The app I selected is not effectively selected...

Looks to me it's quite a deep problem related to my phone rather than to the launcher.

Looks like - I don't know - maybe the paths to my apps are not recognized by the launcher or some like that.

If anybody knows of such a behavior, please let me know.
    Thanks guys!

    Hi

I had the same problem with my phone and the launcher 8 app, I couldn't find a solution online but I now seem to have it all working properly.

What I did was go into developer options and ticked the 'allow mock locations' option and at the same time I went into storage options and changed the default write disk option to sd card from phone storage, I then cleared the app data and cache, uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it again and now it all seems to be working fine and I'm able to fully edit the tiles
No sure what actual bit of what I did solved the problem but it works now so I'm happy. Hopefully this will help others to.

    Phones running 4.1.2 btw
