Late Calendar notifications

When Gingerbread came out, my Calendar became unreliable. Notifications consistently go off after the event has already started.

I found several posts in the past about this problem, but nothing with a solution. Recently, I haven't been able to find most of those old posts.

Has a solution been found? Or is there some simple fix that everyone else used to get notifications to go off when they are supposed to, instead of when the user manually wakes-up the phone?
