no the kickstand is not shiny it's kind of a bronze color after a few weeks mine started peeling right there near the edge , so I simply sanded mine down to make it look uniform

I got a white carbon fiber skin for my phone it covers the kick stand too.

From phantom skinz. It's not that great but makes the phone look cool too

My mother in law and my TB's kick stand is peeling also !!! I mean its not that bad for me to warrant a replacemtn device at this time......just dissappoiinting for a top tiered device having this type of issue

Be careful sanding your kickstand and make sure to not damage the phone. If you have to exchange it don't want asurion or Vzw denying your claim because you trying to resolve an issue that should not have happened this soon in the phone's life.
