How do you save new words to the stock keyboard? It doesn't act like any other keyboard, in that regard.

Thank you!

Not sure. Seems like it saves some words but not many

Settings >Language & Input >Personal Dictionary. Then press green+ button at top of screen. :)

Thank you! I don't understand why you can't save as you're typing in an app, but this is better than nothing.

Thank you, musicmelanie3.

The keyboard is supposed to learn your words & your abbreviated words over some time of use but, like you, I've had to manually add some words. Good luck. :)

I don't use third party keyboards since ICS. Before that, you could switch to the stock keyboard while typing inside of an app, to keep the keyboard from knowing your keystrokes. The only way (I've found) to do that now is to go all the way back to settings. So, I'm stuck with the stock keyboard, now. At least, you can swype.

I just found out how to change keyboards within Apps, without going to Settings. You pull down the notification bar! Now I can use words like Downton and Pinterest while swyping!
