Keyboard backlight

I'm growing increasingly annoyed by the randomness of the backlit keys. I don't mess with the screen brighness too often, so I don't think it is connected to that.

I've never seen a setting, so my question is whether or not a toggle has been developed for this?

Any insight would be appreciated
