Only reason I don't want to is because no one can tell me what stuff I don't need in these kernels (the ext2/3/4 files specifically). I've never done this and I don't want to totally bork my phone.

I dont need most of the extra stuff but it causes no harm having it there. If they are not used it is taking up no resources. Flash away and enjoy.

I'll flash it when I have time... If I'm gonna bork it, I'll bork it on my day off so I can have time to fix it (and to see if I even like it)

    naming pattern

I just flashed the SV .8ghz and noticed the kernel version does not tell you what version you flashed (blatantly anyway). The old kernels let you know what you flashed.

The new naming (kernel version) 2.6.39.9-peteralfansoroot@pete#16 is the SV

The LV (just flashed) stays the same until you get to the final number @pete#15

    Just a heads up .

So far all running smooth. Fantastic. Thank you Pete.

I'm in search of a cool running kernel. I've tried virtually every combination and my temps quickly jump to above 50C. Set CPU profile triggers and temps drop pretty quickly at 400 Max. This problem has existed since I got a CLN replacement for my OG Droid months ago. Even clocking at 600 Max temps rise when data transfer is high like in maps. I've tried ulv, lv, sv. All the same.
    Any suggestions?
Edit : dmesg reports nand_resume called on a chip not in suspended state every minute or less.

    Thanks for the upgrade Pete.

I just wanted to confirm with you (or someone else in this thread), that it's best to use an app (IE: SetCPU) as a governer and not use the built in one in Roms?

(Peter, sorry about posting non-related GPA15 beta testing stuff on that thread :p)

When you flash a nandroid backup, say 4-27 stock, does it revert back to the stock kernel?

I would like to try the kernels on GPA15, but I would like to go back to stock.

Also, you do have to flash both, the Kernel zip and the autooverclock.zip

I use Set CPU. I haven't found any other way to monitor CPU temp and reduce clock if it goes high. I wonder if it may conflict with the ROM settings? I tried without it manually monitoring temp with OS Monitor and still got high temps so my guess is there is no conflict. ROM settings reflect what Set CPU settings are.

This leads me to another question I have.

Does the governor in these kernels monitor the temperature to decide what slot to use? Does it protect the phone from OT?
