Interesting.. does it require any software on the host PC? Internet is delivered to the phone via USB? (Reverse tethering, right? Since regular tethering delivers internet to pc via USB)

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums

So here is a question RZ, is wireless tethering a kernel related or rom related thing?

ah, thats interesting. looks like its just a simple configuration change. What voltage and speeds would you like for this?

edit: I see this option is already enabled in my configs. Looks like it isn't just as simple as kernel config. As that link alludes to, a userspace daemon or something will be needed - far beyond my level at this point :/

This is an interesting concept, I to would like to give that "reverse usb-tethering" kernel a try if u get one made...

its not a huge deal. ill just have to deal with it until my upgrade in November i guess.

Edit: did you try this method on your phone? I just realized that after I reinstalled PE 4.2 i never reloaded your kernel, I'm on a Slasher kernel. I'm loading your kernel now.

The TCP/IP functionality via USB is already enabled. There needs to be something on the droid that can interpret it though. I'd assume there would need to be something on the PC side also.

I've installed this kernel along with ultimate droid 2.5.0 and am now trying to get OpenVPN to work. I think my current issue is the lack of a tun kernel module. What should I use with this kernel? How should I install / start it?

Is there a problem with the usb connection to the computer with your kernel. I am running it with cush2push rom and when I plug in the usb cable I get the usb debugging but not the usb mass storage.
