EVEN THOUGH it's my wife's birthday - I decided to drop this stuff today ;) I know it's been a long time coming. As many of you know, I've moved from Arizona to Maine - and it's been quite a journey. Went from a 2200sq ft home to a 500sq foot cabin in the middle of the woods - OFF-GRID. No electricity, no running water. So I've had a lot on my hands. And no job. So I appreciate your patience AND your support :) And so does my wife, LOL!!

So .. without further delay ...

New kernels - they now include smartass and minmax governors - ondemand is still the default, and default clockspeed is 600. Logging is turned off by default and you need ChevyTools to turn it on. This means with it off, no logcat is possible (leaving you to enjoy faster speeds :)). EXT2 and TUN are built into the kernels.

And YES - these will work for both Froyo AND Gingerbread. Included in the zips are most common filesystem drivers as well. If you do not know what they are, you do not need them

Standard rules apply - if you load up, and get stuck at the 'M' - first wipe CACHE. If still stuck - try a different kernel.

Compcache is supported within these kernels - however, if you are using a non-SS ROM and have problems - you need to speak with that ROM's dev, as most of the work for compcache is in the ROM itself.

Would these be applicable on Pete's GPA builds? And do they support USB connectivity while the phone is booted up and not in recovery?

These kernels should work on ANY D1 ROM's, Pete's or otherwise ... and yes they support USB connectivity while booted up.

    RED - THANKS!! :)

TBH I'm probably not the best person to explain - I just included these at request - however - Google should help! ;) Pretty sure there is a detailed thread here about the different governors - however, my testing STILL shows ondemand to be the best.

A high androud system like that of the ulv kernel especially when then compared to a kernel that in theoey should be using less, that can be & usually is a sign that the kernel is possibly to low of a voltage, actually causing the os to repeatedly run, & not to go into "sleep" properly I always compare the "running %" to the "screen on %", if ur phone has been left to sleep for a bit & them two catagoriez show unusually close to the same % sumthins not behavin.

Ya i hear ya. basically during 5.2 and that set of kernels, ULV would cause my Android OS to report like 60% battery usage. So i assumed the voltage was too low, etc(what you said) but i tried it again yesterday with the new set and 5.3 and it appears to be working perfectly. I haven't stress tested it yet or steamed video/music to see if temps are lower or battery life is better but im optomistic :). Love you chevy!

I still don't really understand what the minmax kernel is, but if it's what I think it is, then it sounds interesting enough to try it for a day. I know that SmartAss/SmartMOD/Bumblebee kernels are interactive kernels with screen off max set to like 350 to save on battery. So I'd assume that minmax kernel is an OnDemand kernel with a max of 350?

    ChevyTools

You mention that you need ChevyTools to enable logging. I tried to extract and install the apk from the rom, but I get an error, since I'm not running an SS rom (granted). Any way to enable logging without ChevyTools using a script or terminal commands with modules from the rom, or install ChevyTools on a non-SS rom? Thanks.
