    So I've been testing several different kernels/Roms for speed. I figured I'd post my findings if anybody is interested. For benchmarking I used Quadrant and BenchmarkPi . Before each individual Rom was installed I wiped data. There were no apps installed on the phone besides what came with the individual Roms, benchmark apps, and SetCPU. SetCPU was at default settings (besides clock speed). The only apps running at the time of the benchmarks were system apps.

    why would you run a 1.25 kernel at 1 ghz speed that doesnt make sense just run the 1 ghz kernel at 1 ghz

    I used the 1.25Ghz kernels becuase I usually keep my phone at 1Ghz but like the ability to switch to 1.25 when I want.

    seeing the result bb 0.4 combine with p3 lv 1.25 is the higher result .. pretty close to the other

    what about the battery drain level ? this is also crucial ..

    I didn't run the combinations long enough to test for battery drain. I wouldn't be suprised though if ChevyNo1's ULV kernel has the best battery performance.

    Slayher Kernels

    Slayher kernels (They're in Rom manager). I have always used Chevy's kernels (ULV or LV) and they've been pretty good for me lately but recently I downloaded Slayher 1.2Ghz and WOW dancedroid, the results were amazing. I boosted quadrant score by about 100 from when I was using chevys. I highly advise you all take a look at his.

    For some reason I can not run P3 or Bekit kernels as my phone doesn't get past the M so thats why I've stuck mostly with the chevy.

    Looks like you get your choice of either the fastest, or the most reliably fast, 'cause in almost every case, the fastest kernal (P3's) is the least predictably fast (worst standard deviation).

    the best way is to set up profiles in setcpu. you do not want your device overclocked, non stop, no matter what is currently happening.

    Used to care about all of this. Can run my droid 100% stable at 1.1. Almost stable at 1.2 but battery life suffered a lot. Currently running a p3 compcache enabled kernel 125-1000 and loving it. Fast and excellent battery life. May try the 1.1ghz kernel when I am done testing this one

    phones react in different ways to kernels and roms. I do not fully understand why, but its just how it works. My droid may get better results then yours and yours better then mine with the same set up.

    From what I gather, some phones can use ULV/LV/NV - ULV should give you the best results, but not every phone can handle them.Some phones you can Overclock to 1.4Ghz and others might crap out at 1.1/1.2

    It all depends on your given phone, no one can give you the best answer. You have to test things out.

    As for roms, some have lots of extra stuff on them that might kill battery life, others are striped down to very little. again you have to look around and test it yourself.

    I run cyanogenMod with its basic kernel. I keep it at 250~600 I get a decent battery life that will last me most of the time all day. For everyday use I dont OC it, tho I will turn it up to 800Mhz at times if its acting slugish(or I have it plugged in and am playing a game/watching my slingbox)
