Wanting to install a different kernel and when I try in ROM Manager to grab one of the Chevy kernels it asks me "Tunneling?".

Now, there is no other option so I'm assuming its ok to select it but I would love a layman's explanation of what that means. I did search but couldn't find an explanation that I noticed.

Also, is it ok to mix and match kernels and ROMs? I'm running LithMod Blue but I want more than 800 and that's it's max. I chose a Chevy kernel.

    Thanks.

First,it is alright to mix and match kernels and ROM's, the rule of thumb with kernels is too start low and move up if things don't go wrong, and of course have a good back-up first

It sounds as if you are trying to download and install a kernel from within ROM manager, I would suggest finding the Kernel via google (P3 Kernels or Chevy Kernels) make sure they are for 2.2 or 2.1 or whatever O/S you are running, put it on the Root of your SD card, boot into recovery/choose .zip from sd/ install /reboot *cross fingers*

I say this because ROM manager has it's faults, as far as "tunneling" I don't know what this could mean...never been prompted with that option, the worst you could do is choose it, have something go horribly wrong and have to restore your back-up ;)

Ok. Thanks t... I'm trying to do a little more outside of the box of ROM Manager. Kinda like knowing how to do math in case your calculator breaks.

    Thanks again!

    T is fine ;)

So is this an option you have to choose, I still don't understand

Ahhh, it is built into Chevy's Kernels, I see...crazy all the things that can be built into a Kernel...Big Up's to those who make that happen
