Bugless Beast V0.5 is making progress but not quite ready for release to the masses. On a lighter note, you should start preparing now. I have created a tool that will backup a few of the more important databases found on your Droid. Once you run this tool the following will be backed up to your sdcard in a directory titled "backuptool": System Settings, Browser Bookmarks, Call Logs, SMS/MMS, User Dictionary, and Market Downloads List. Please note, this tool does not back up your apps.

So what good is backing up these files if there is no way to restore them? Good question...Once you install V0.5 my ROM will automatically check if these files exist on the sdcard; if they do exist, these files will automatically be restored!

This is a great option for those of us who choose to wipe data/factory reset but hate the hassle of losing all your important settings.

Did I mention this can be used on any ROM? Please don't hesitate to give Bugless Beast a try.

    Instructions for use:
    1. Download backuptoolv1.zip
    2. Install it the same way you would install a kernel (do not wipe!)
    3. Open a terminal and run "backup" (may need to type "su" first)
    * Your settings should now be in the "backuptool" folder on your sdcard*

    Note:
After 6:30 PM EST you will be able to run "backup" via the Script Helper found in the Bugless Beast Toolkit App by Mr. Blippy.

Loaded, installed and backed-up last night. Only 404kb footprint for the backup file.

I use both as well.. I really wish either one had the same power control widget as Cyanogen 6.00 RC2. So useful. But I bounce between UD and BB.

I installed this via clockwork but its giving me errors after typing backup in terminal.

    Removing old backups "none found"
Error; failed to change file mode /sdcard/backuptool
    Error: cannot create directory /sdcard/backuptool

    Any ideas?

I got an error the first time I tried it, too (although it was yesterday afternoon, so I don't remember the specific error messages). My errors were resolved by typing su first in Terminal Emulator.

I tested this for Pete yesterday afternoon before he posted it on his website, and when I reported the error and told him that su fixed it, he remarked that it had to do with the kernel being used. That's why he added "(may need to type su first)" to his instructions.
