I know you can tap the mic icon in google search widget and speak questions and commands, but i just discovered that tapping the Mic is not required. Open the search and say ok google. It will open speech recognition. No need to touch the Mic.
I wonder if google is always listening like the Moto X. From my experience this only works after you open the google search app.
Any other neat tricks we don't know about, or am i the only one who didn't know this?

This one one of the features changed a little after Google Now came on scene.

So, is there any other situations where google is listening without asking it to?

That option can be turned off in Google Now settings.
