Now that I got you looking and ready to jump on explaining how the jailbreaking is an iPhone thing, breathe easy.

I've been amazed at what many of you have done or able to do by rooting the phone and going from there. My best friend is an iPhone user and he and I often go back and forth with the "mine does this" and "Mine does that" stuff. Recently the subject of wallpapers came up and he said, "if you jailbreak the iPhone, you can have wallpapers too."

I got to thinking, like the wallpaper, what things does the Droid do without rooting it that only a jail"broke" iPhone will do? And better yet, what things can a rooted Droid do that a jailbroke iPhone still can't do?

    Stock Droid does these:

    1. Free Navigation
    2. Multitasking
    3. Widgets
    4. Open Source
    5. Super customizable
    6. The drop down notification tab (probably one of the most underrated things IMO)
    7. Hard keyboard (depending on the device)

Those would be the big ones I can think of off the top of my head. Im sure I missed some though lol.

Well one huge advantage is open source vs apple. While apple considers jail breaking illegal, google has developed apps for rooted users. Android is getting better everyday thanks to the community. iPhone community is constantly battling against new firmware revisions that restrict jailbreak. Google releases their source code once it's official. Apple keeps that under lock and key!

absolutely customizable. Aside from basics like a removable battery and memory. The droid impresses me more every day. Mostly with what some clever folks figure out with it

with the flexibility of open source allowing applications, droid can play avi's through yxflash despite supposedly not being able to
quick and painless google searches(iphone def cant do that)
reliable 3g service....lol...sorry i dont like at&t and edge service blows
free music through apps on phone
can prob go on forever about the differences

-Streaming media and remote content/code execution(iPhone/App Store dev terms strictly prohibit this) [iPhone requires jailbreaking at a minimum and may not even be able to with jailbreaking]

-Transfer files (photos/videos from phone camera) to PC without installing additional software [iPhone can't at all as far as I know]

-Install apps from 3rd party sources [iPhone requires 'jailbreaking']

    -Multitasking [iPhone OS can't, period]

-Wallpapers and other UI customization [iPhone requires jailbreaking and eventhen customizations are limited]
