Power button...Home button ! pops up

.......4 options
reboot systen now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition.

further down it says
E: Can't open/cache/recovery/comand

Not ure what to do next....getting closer, I think.

This same thing happened to me with the same failure message. Just try it on another computer. Try it on more than one. This worked for me. Still does.

...try what, are you saying I should reflash on another PC with linux...I have done it 2 times and both times it says complete / verified and rebooting.
But still get the loop and the error message in recovery

26 years ago today I got married......and now my phone is back up and running. It does not get better than this. Thank you to all that helped over the past 24 hours. Is Z4 root still the best way to start?

Don't be afraid to try upgrading again! at this point with our locked bootloaders, i don't know of a way to irreversibly brick your phone.. just make sure you use the droid 2 bootstrap tool instead of the DX one, and after you are on gingerbread/liberty .1.... if you are upgrading to .5 via the app make sure you use the zip that includes the kernel (second option in nightlies) if you are upgrading to .4 just follow the instructions in his .4 post... glad you got it working though! dancedroid
