Got this as a text message. I have read stuff online about it but have gotten mixed responces.

call vzw at 611 on your vzw device and ask them about it.

^That's a usually really good site for finding if a particular number is a scam/telemarketer/etc. In this particular instance, there is a lot of back and forth banter, some claiming one way, some another. So, as some have stated, just be safe. Use 611 or online system to check on your account, rather than the provided number.
