Here's how. Download and install No Lock Screen - Android Apps on Google Play

FWIW, it had a bug that annoyed me, let me get my bearings straight. Will update.

Same here Ollie! I've never used lock screens till my employer implemented 3rd party security software that requires encryption.

I asked because when you go to Settings -> Security & screen lock -> Screen lock -> None

Nothing changes/happens...

That does not have anything to do with removing the lock screen. It just dictates whether or not you have to input a pattern, pincode, or password before the lockscreen can be bypassed.

Anytime. Try out No Lock. It works very well. The only downfall I had with it was my phone's home button would trigger the screen on sometimes while it was in my pocket. I had since then put on a glass screen protector which counter sunk my home button and resolved the accidental screen wakes.
