Is there a solution yet for poor streaming audio quality on 2.2?

Search didn't give me a solution (if there is one) other than reverting back to 2.1. Is this issue something that can/will be fixed in future Roms?

no, no solution yet. it effects all streaming so switching players will not necessarily help

The root of the issue is that Google implemented a new media framework with Froyo (StageFright) and it has issues decoding AAC+ streams.

Issue 9308 - android - eaac+ and aac+ decoding sound quality problems (Android 2.2) - Project Hosting on Google Code

I just tested out the latest Froyo build (FRG01B) and sadly the issue has not been completely resolved yet.

I say completely because it does sound better than previous builds. Still tinny and shallow though :(

Reverting back to ESE81 until this is fixed :)

Slacker didn't work for me. It actually sounded worse than Pandora.

I suspect that DigiK may be referring to the Slacker Premium subscription service which downloads files locally and lets you play from a "cache". I have this service as well and think that the cache files sound better than the stream. That seems to track with the general feeling that the thing that's broken here is the AAC codec as applied to streaming, local files are ok.

No issues with xiialive or radiotime. They sound fine since BB Froyo .1

Also flash radio stations now work great, except you need to leave browser open or it stops.

I do not use pandora or slacker.
