I keep reading all this talk about Verizon's 4G LTE network coming soon and I wanted to know is the Droid prepared to make the switch when the time comes? Because I have the feeling that, assuming the iPhone doesn't come to Verizon (I hate that rumor btw, because everyone treats it as fact) I can see myself sticking with the droid for quite a while.

So. Is the Droid prepared for the switch?

Will a software be needed to upgrade to 3G or is it more of a hardware issue? I would imagine the 2nd generation Droid will indeed to able to run on 4G sometime next year, I'm assuming.

Nope, it's gotta do with the phone's radio, so hardware. :(

Is this DEFINITE information?

I was talking to two Verizon techs (friends of mine) who said that the DROID is 4G capable when they roll out their 4G LTE network next year.

Can anyone confirm with evidence one way or the other?

The only thing i've heard from many people, including other verizon reps / techs was that it was only 3g capable, but then again it's all hearsay so.

I'm guessing that it will be a couple years before the 4G network will be in enough markets and reliable enough to switch to.

doesnt the droid have a SIM card slot to the right of the SD Card slot? Does this mean it might be able to do 4G?

Which is why I asked and didn't say you were all wrong.

My friends have gotten me a lot of information (correct information) before it was on blogs or released to the public so I trust them with most of the stuff they tell me.

Which is why I was ASKING and not stating a fact.

Thanks.
