Seems like text usage is still going up.....
Are you having them forwarded to your cell number?
You meant "through" google.
The answer is Yes it's free! But you gotta have a data plan and send it only' through the Google Voice app.
Yes I use it all the time. I have the lowest SMS plan from VZ thanks to GV. One thing is you will have to turn off SMS forwarding to your mobile number setting on the GV homepage. I had this turned on and was getting double messages (1 in the GV app and one in my SMS).
did it throw something, or is it through something?
Where on the home page do I make this change? Plus I have google voice, so does this mean I can get away with using this and reduce my sms plan from verizon. I currently have unlimited plan on text, how much would this save me?
I used Handcent to send SMS, how do I link it to google voice to send out texts, any help would be helpful. Thanks
Not sure you can. I think you can only send SMS directly through the GV app.
I know this isnt exactly the same, but just for confirmation, GV doesn't provide free calls as well correct?
Here's the way to think about it If you have everyone text you at your Google voice number, and do not have Google voice forward them to your phone, you use the DATA portion of your plan to look at your Google voice app and see and respond to your text messages.
Ideally you could have everyone text you on your GV number and have no text plan on Verizon. However remember that GV does not do MMS yet.
I think all calls in the lower 48 are free, maybe even Hawaii and Alaska. But international calls have a charge.
