I'm running SS5.3 with the patch and have been since it came out. Yesterday my phone stopped charging so I'm stuck charging batteries externally and swapping them out. If I reboot with it plugged in the USB charging indicator will light for a few seconds then shut off (this is right at the beginning of the boot).

So, I want to upgrade to a TB anyways but I'm not eligible until November. If I upgrade early I'm going to get raped so I'd like to run this for a bit longer. Any advice on how I can fix this is great. Swapping out this battery is going to get old fast.

I've restored a couple older backups so I'm thinking it's not ROM related. Since the USB light lights up momentarily maybe it's not hardware related? I'm stumped.

Ok, if u are charging it via the wall charger, do this, unplug the cord from the wall charger/adapter & plug the usb into a pc & what does the light on the side of the phone do, & just to make sure, u know that light goes out when the battery is full, so make sure u do this with a low battery.

Try downloading rzrecovery (under raidzero in Droid hacking -custom roms) and flashing just like a rom
Unlike clockworkmod you can set it so you can charge your phone while in recovery

You can also try flashing back to a froyo rom then right back to simply stunning, I've heard that fixes a lot of things for some reason, also get a fresh download of simply stunning and obviously, wipe data and cache AT LEAST 3 times before reflashing

Or you can at least try wiping battery stats first

It doesn't charge in the wall, from the computer or in my car dock. Another weird thing is the charge light is on when the phone is off but turns off a few seconds into the boot cycle.

As a work around try the rzrecovery, if that doesn't work your micro USB dock might be damaged and no way to fix that I think...I know the headphone jack can get damaged from general usage - mine is starting to go just a little bit :(

Do what metalspring said, test if it's a hardware issue or not. Install Rzrecovery, boot into recovery, then go to extras, then click battery status to check what your battery is at. Leave it alone for a while, then check the battery status again to see if it charged or not. If it didn't charge, you have a hardware issue :'(

I think I'm out of luck. I installed RZRecovery. The battery status in recovery is showing as discharging :(

So far, it just can't charge. He just has to charge it some other way to keep his phone alive, but thats a hassle...

    Far from dead however.

As long as he can still flash things from the sdcard and has a way to get them there all is well.

Maybe dead was the wrong word for me to use. I have to charge batteries externally and keep swapping them out, huge PITA. It's also a good reason to get a TB.:icon_ banana:

With the charger plugged into your phone hold it to the right and to the left. My car charger will only work if I hold tension on it to the left. So I just wrap it around the phone in the car doc and it works.

You could always try one of those charging mats too, so you could directly charge the battery.

I tried wiggling the charger around and clearing battery stats, neither worked unfortunately.
